PagEd 1.10rc2 attempts to integrate Mediashare into image selection. As this is new, expect bugs. Note that for this to work, you have to turn once to System Checker to let PagEd find Mediashare (bottom part of page lists found modules).
Secondly, resource demandments of autobackup has been reduced by perhaps as much as 75%. By this we hope to avoid some of the problems reported as server-out-of-memory and hangups.
PagEd 1.10 is the first version to be thorougly profiled in terms of speed, memory requirements and code efficiency, and we do hope it will represent a noticeable overall performance increase.
Given the amount of code changes, a larger version change could be in place. But version numbers do not really matter that much:)

Picking up pace.
Hi all,
Having been snug with the final 1.00 release, we have been running a bit on a low key for a while. Nevertheless work has been done in the background, and most bugs reported in forum have been coded into an update which we hope to be offering next week. About: Media Manager.
As is quite common in application development, PagEd also suffers from documentation lagging behind when new features are added. The most recent issue is the enhanced media manager in the latest 1.00 RC releases.
As some of you may know, the media manager has been greatly modified during the last weeks, mostly due to client request. But without some explanation, it is hard to see exactly what the changes mean for you in terms of usability. Thus ? a short introductional text follows.

A quiet month?
Hi all
Some of you may be wondering why there has not been any updates to v 1.00 for some weeks now. In part this is because the latest pack seems to be fairly stable - and we can start recommending it. But mainly the reason is that we have been working hard - on paid client request! - on what hopefully will be the last enhancement before an official v. 1.00. The next RC will be named RC5, skipping RC4, and it will include one major new feature.

0.931: Logo on printerfriendly page
As a small service on request, the still-official v. 0.931 has been modified slightly as to support a logo/graphic on the printerfriendly page display. There are 2 changed files: PagEd / show / page.php and PagEd / functionssmall.php . How-to: Create the image you would like to have shown at the top of the printerfriendly page, save as "printlogo.gif" (or .jpg or .png) into PagEd / pnimages.

New language work!
Today we have received a complete Portuguese language file, supporting PagEd v. 1.0. Fine work, by Imeios, can be found in Downloads / PagEd / Translations.
Our French language file, previously only supporting up to PagEd 0.93, has been given a workover and new lines, taking it to v. 1.00. Jazzie is the man and his effort is now available in the same folder.

Russian translation update
Urdin is running some fine pages and has updated the Russian language file for PagEd to work on his web. He has been kind to offer it to us, and you can find it in Downloads / PagEd / Translations. There are a few remaining lines to do, but these are included in English, so no broken defiinitions will appear.

Our newest fine user contribution is a users manual for PagEd in Spanish. Author xpascual describes it in forum as "a document for self-learning, aimed to users (editors) that don?t know too much about computers (is very basic? but enough to begin), but wanted to input contents".

Somewhere in some previous release of 1.00, some of the PagEd database tables have received duplicate entries. As this phenomenon has been found at at least 2 different user sites, please check the following if you experience problems and errors...

Docking media management.
Hi all. A short report on something which obviously(?) should have been done ages ago. The popup windows for fetching uploaded images into content, and for browsing other uploaded files, really should be accessible on their own outside page editing. This turned out to be an easy implementation, and screenshots are supplied. Comments are welcomed.

If you from time to time would like to see your site content in PDF format, a module has been available for some time. Based on plugins, xFPDF converts virtually any type of Postnuke content to PDF - news, reviews, calendar events - as long as someone has taken time to code a plugin. Uh...which we have for PagEd now.

Several new lines are needed for v. 1.00 of PagEd. Contributions are welcome. You will find a file with the new lines in English in Downloads / PagEd / Translations, at the top.
We do not need: German, Danish, Dutch, Norwegian. These are up to date.

PagEd and PN760 final
Hello all
There seems to be issues with running PagEd under the final release of Postnuke 0.760, published yesterday at Postnuke`s main site. We are currently looking into this and hope to test and bugfix any malfunction as soon as possible.

Is this useful? Would you want it?
The PagEd system checker in v. 0.95 (currently in a test stage) has a wide range of uses. Mainly it is a place to turn to if you experience image display errors, malfunction and the likes. But it can be a centre for additional information on your install - content overview stats, site status etc.
Here`s a suggestion coded today - an RSS feed from this site, offering news and information, readily available within the module panels.
Have a look at the screenshot. It is already working just fine. But do you want it? |

Important 0.95 info!
To avoid unnecessary extra bugs in the new test release, it is essential that you DELETE the PagEd/admin folder and content (not to be confused with the PagEd/admin.php file...). The PagEd/admin folder is deprecated (no longer in use) and may or may not cause trouble if present.
Forgot to mention this in the other text. Thought it needed extra attention.
NEW: From now on, PagEd will do a check for you on the presence of old/unused files/folders, and alert you in Control Panel. |

Upgrade to 094 fix
Finally found bug causing several users to experience malfunction after upgrading to 0.94. Quick fix (updated 94 pack will follow):
In malfunctioning 94, change value in paged_version, table (prefix)_paged_modulesettings, from 0.94a1 to 0.931. Then access your site again. |

094a - new language definitions

We hope to release the first 0.94 some time Friday March 11. As several extras have been put in, there are some new lines in the translations. Already, German, Italian, Danish and Norwegian are complete and waiting for the module release.

Simpler, cross-browser typetool?
Postnuke is the arena where hardcore html coders meet the point-and-click Word gang. How to please all? Our system sports a Wysiwyg editor, but some say it is too complex, others complain about performance in non-IE browsers.
So, would you be interested in a PagEd-native alternative? One does exist, it can easily be integrated, and it runs equally fine under several browsers. |

0.931 Sep 28 - almost official.
IMPORTANT: If you are still experiencing search errors, make sure that the root / includes / search / pagedsearch.php file has been uploaded from 0.931. PagEd search code is not found in the PagEd module folder.
Some of the comments on 0.930 have been dealt with in this release, which has been defined as alpha, but which we think is fairly stable. Find 0.931 in Downloads / PagEd / Test releases.

0.931: Reason for delay
Based on newly aquired information, we think there may be a way of working support for GIF image upload into Safe Mode/GD environments. Specifically, this will mean that gifs can be uploaded, then converted by PagEd to PNG before handling in content. Stay tuned.

Official 0.930
Very little forum traffic and bug reporting lately determines that it is time to declare PagEd 0.93 official. The version is now 0.930. For those of you reluctant to overwrite all files, a list of changed files since the last 0.93rc3 follows.

92 to 93: BIG bug
The upgrade process from PagEd 0.92 (and perhaps other versions) to 0.93 may fail seriously, IF there are empty rows present in your (prefix)_paged_titles table (you may see this in Page Manager). We have found the cause, and the latest 0.93 update attempts to solve the problem.
Mayor upgrades should in any case always be preceded by db backup, if a roll-back is the only way out of a problem like this. |

PagEd permissions: Updated information
The PagEd permission system. although designed to be simple and foolproof, can seem complex and bewildering at first. This short text will try to describe the different ways of configuring types of access to content.
In general, PagEd deals with two kinds of permissions: READ access, and EDIT access. Read access is done through the Postnuke admin Permissions module. Edit access is done in PagEd`s own User Permissions panel.

New color picker for 0.93a5
One last feature will be added to PagEd 0.93 before we finish the beta. The color picker used by PagEd since the very first version 0.5 has had 2 flaws: Speed and cross-browser friendlyness. These flaws are both history with the new picker being added. Code is a slightly modified version of the selector found at www.flooble.com and a click on the image here will show you how it will look. |

New test version forum
To make test version development dialog more tidy to follow, bug reports on test releases should now be posted to the "Test version bugs" forum under PagEd. Reports already posted on 0.93a4 have been moved.
A bugfix of 93a4 will be released today, dealing with reported bugs. And thanks for testing! |

If you were among the first 3-4 to download the 0.93a1 pack, please open your PagEd/viewmime.php file and change the three lines in function &PagEd_set_triple7data (top of file) to:

Unless of course you plan to use a different directory.

A new test release of PagEd, named 0.93a, is available in Downloads / PagEd / Test releases. It is NOT meant for production environments. Due to client request, the previous test release has been enhanced with four new features:
- Time programming of all articles.
- User ordering of pages under a topic.
- Splitting of a single article into more than one "page".
- Font-weight selection: Normal or bold.

A little stretch of road.
The roadmap described elsewhere on this page, although somewhat dated, still depicts some plans for the major 1.0 release of Paged. However, after scanning all forum posts submitted during the last month or so, quite a few smaller enhancements deserve to be added into the work with 0.92, which now seems quite stable.

The test release of PagEd 0.92, mentioned in detail elsewhere on this page, can now be found in Downloads/PagEd/Test releases.
PagEd 0.92 will give you popup help icons in over 40 different places in the editor panels. Apart from the new help system, the 0.92 code is identical to 0.91b4 in every way.
INSTALLATION: New install or full overwrite upgrade.
NOTE: The download pack comes with a default English help set. This must be installed by turning to Module Settings and following instructions.

Fix: PagEd under older PHP
PagEd has since the beginning included code for file upload under pre-4.1 PHP installations. This code has not worked successfully, but it has been difficult to troubleshoot since few servers run pre-4.1. However we got the chance to look into this today, being given access to a server with this environment. A fix was found and it represents today`s update.

PagAutoCon block updated
Apollo has enhanced his all-purpose content block for PagEd with two new feautures:
- Choose an article by name from dropdown list
- Select the most popular article (from hit counter data)
The purpose of the PagEd AutoContent block is to suit a wide variety of block needs: Latest news in a topic, latest items in a topic, 1 top news story, to mention some.
The block is included in PagEd 0.91b4. You can also find it in the 0.91 code browser - see left menu link. Configuration is done in PN Blocks/New block.

Building a user manual
Being long overdue, a suggestion has been made to build a collection of documents explaining how to use PagEd. A small "Wiki" system called TipiWiki is now installed. Access is for registered users, and once logged in, you will see a link to the PagEd WikiProject in the "Site" menu, below "My Account".

Test release: PagEd/EZComments block
For those of you who use PagEd in conjunction with EZComments, a test block pulling the latest comments with title links to pages can be found in Downloads/PagEd/Addons. Reason for development: Giving better attention to articles and comments not on front page anymore.
This is only a small modification of MagicX`s block for PNs normal comments. Give it a test run and then drop a line about how you find it. |

0.91b2: Medium risk test release ready.
Gathering up requests and bugreports, PagEd 0.91b2 is now available for download, fixing some things, adding some others. This pack is found in Downloads/PagEd/Test Releases, and it requires a full overwrite.
Now, due to code modifications in critical areas, this update has been made a separate download and will stay so until the brave have fetched it and bugstatus has been determined.

Roadmap towards 1.0
The official PagEd version 0.91b seems pretty stable at the moment. Therefore it is time to put down some thoughts on the road further ahead. Only one more enhancement will be made to 0.91b. Jan 13a: Easy links - pages and topics
After implementing "easy links" to a small assortment of file types, a request came up from pch to apply this to pages and topics too. This means that links to other local PagEd pages and topics can be built into a text if you know the ID of the page or topic you wish to link to.

Important when upgrading PagEd
A couple of things to make sure of if you are following the PagEd update process:
1. If your upgrade means going from one build to another - for instance 0.90b1 to 0.91b2 - you must download the full module pack and do a full overwrite.
2. If your upgrade means going from one date to another within the same build - for instance 0.91b1 Jan 3a to 0.91b1 Jan 5b - make sure you get all files that have been changed in between. A full overwrite is of course more practical if many files have been modified. |

What really annoys you?
Hello fellow users,
We would like to ask you to tell us about your gravest annoyances in Paged!
As development of the next version is taking place, a main focus for this one is to iron out dirty spots found by those of you who have been using the module for some time. Also if we have visitors who once turned away from Paged or never really got into it, tell us why.
At this point of development, things that would be "really nice to have" will be noted but probably not implemented for the next release.
What we are interested in are those "if this little issue was dealt with / changed / added, current use of PagEd would be so much easier for me during my day-to-day use" or "that thing is so impractical, please do something about it now".
We will try to get some rust out of the engine. Later we can talk about new features! |

Zikula compliancy shortly
We are happy to announce that PagEd will be running under Zikula in a short while.
During recent tests, a small bug causing major operational issues has been dealt with. Specifically, this turned out to be an unforeseen misinterpretation of Zikula´s version number causing PagEd to fail fetching the database name, something which in the current code is necessary for amongst others, new installs and upgrades. As soon as this bug was eliminated, the rest seems to be working, but more testing will be undertaken.
Please take this opportunity to submit short and longer term wishes for functionality - we have promised to be back in the zone for some time, and hopefully, now we are.
