What is PagEd? |
What PagEd can do PagEd allows the user control over color and size of page titles, subtitles, text and links. Images can be uploaded and placed to the left, right or alternately left end right of text. A maximum image size can be set, and images larger than this size will open in popup windows.
Additional settings let you add a Printout icon to your page as well as a date stamp added when a page is saved or updated.
As with single pages, all these settings are also globally configurable. Once a global template is set, users can either chose to apply this ready-set template to new pages, or define individual layout. Layout for tens or hundreds of pages adherring to the global template can thus easily be changed simply by altering the global settings.
Once pages are created, they are accessible in Page Manager, from where content and layout can be edited, or pages can be deleted.
News In Page Manager, as well while editing content, user can chose to add his or her page to the News section. The PagEd News display has the form of a Postnuke block and can be chosen for your site front page. The news display block shows title and first subsection (text and image) of all pages added to the News section.
Once pages are added to the News section, they are accessible in News manager, where user can alter the sequence of displayed news, remove news items, and also edit content of news item pages.
Menus The menu system in PagEd offers layout configuration of menus, and a Menu Builder which lets the user build a menu consisting of local and external links, in four (for now) levels. Ten menus will be accessible in Menu Manager. Once a menu is created, it can be altered in any way - single items can be edited or deleted, and both single items and whole trees with sublevels can be moved within the menu or from menu to menu.
Module layout To ensure that PagEd fits in with your site not only functionally but also visually, you can edit text and background color of the module itself from the Module Settings panel. Here you can also access miscellaneous settings, like whether you want to be warned before deleting pages or menu items.
What PagEd is not PagEd is not a fully visual page editor where all content items can be moved around or placed where you wish. For this I recommend Content Express, another Postnuke module.
PagEd compensates for this by being usable in a wider range of browsers than WYSIWIG-editors. Also the global features are worth considering for user who prefer a globally homogenic look to their site over individual graphic detail.
The current state of PagEd This module is still in a developing state and will be so until v. 1.0 is released. Still, feel free to download the module. Running it on your Postnuke site should be completely safe, but error-free operation cannot be guaranteed.
